Day 76. Yucca Valley, California.
We started the day by making sure that the bikes were healthy. After some oil and air topping up they were ready to go. We headed first for Lake Arrowhead which involved almost continuous switchbacks from the hotel to its 6000' foot elevation 30 miles away. They were good motorcycling roads. There was a good view from the top and we were fortunate that it was also hosting an Oktoberfest. Parking was a bit of an issue as the main parking was shut as it was in danger of collapse. In the end we circumvented the barriers and parked our bikes on top of the at risk section. They were still there when we got back! After that it was off to Big Bear Lake which was even higher. We stopped briefly to admire the view but then it was time to head off to Yukka Valley. We dropped a lot of height very quickly on good motorcycling roads before beginning the high speed blast across the desert. Today we have seen a wide range of scenery from woods, to lakes, to scrubland to deserts. We've just finished off the day by watching "Made in America" at the local cinema (which is right next door!).
