We had breakfast and prepared to travel back to Merida. Alan's dog knew that he was going and started to shake.
The crossing was a lot calmer and we were rewarded with a sighting of some river dolphins.
We took an alternative route back through the Andes to Merida, stopping at a river to observe the vultures. Liz was not feeling well and sat in the van.
One good thing about Venezuela is the coffee. We went to a coffee museum to have some fantastic coffee and look around the old historic coffee plantation.
For lunch we went to a old mountain village and ate some bread and cheese at a posada overlooking the village, the mountains and on a clear day the lake beyond. The 78 year old owner was telling us about life under Chavez. It was described as social anarcy, Chavez would go around claiming private homes and businesses for the republic. He was currently in the area on his way to the lake doing his form of social justice (Alan was sure that if he went to Olga he would loose his house). Under Chavez people had grown used to getting things for nothing and society was far worse as a result.
Back at Merida we had some fun and games trying to find somewhere to stay that wasn't full and find somewhere to change dollars as we hadn't any money after paying Alan for another night.
This was soon sorted, we slobed in bed watching "forty year old virgin".
