We had one more present to buy and we knew where to go to get it. We headed straight to the shop in the city center, went in, bought item and out in 5 minutes chuffed with said item.
There wasn't a lot going on in the center of Beunos Aires to interest us. We saw a pink government building that was pink due to the ox blood that they put in the lime during it's construction. This was followed by a very brief visit to a cathedral, it was cut short as I wanted to get a piccy of the guards marching out after a guard change.
Then we went past the famous obelisk heading towards the Colon theatre. This was something that did interest me, it is regarded as having one of the best accustics in the world. Although it looked like nothing was happening when I checked via the Internet I wanted to be sure by going to the box office. After a lot of time actually finding it from outside the building, all was in vain - nothing until April.
Beunos Aires has a lot of fine architecture similar but not as good as Paris and London. Perhaps this has lead it being compared with Paris. A lot of people scoff at this but I think I can see where they are coming from. It has a lot of cafes, some similar general buildings and balconies. Beyond that I struggle, if you have only ever been to European cities Beunos Aires will feel nothing like Paris. The comparison is more tangible if you have spent some time in other more latin south american cities, you notice the European feel more.
A walk down the shopping streets to end the day was soon abandoned in favour of returning to the pub - sight seeing makes you thirsty!
