Yay got to sleep in!! Didn't have to be on the bus till 9am. Walking tour of the city today went firstly to the imperial palace enormous place where the Ottoman emperors lived, the architecture and mosaic tiling is so well preserved and colourful. Then onto the Hagia Sophia museum very impressive buiding solid stone, lots of marble, hanging lights, 55metre dome inside, was originally a church, then a mosque and now a museum. Then we went to the Blue Mosque which has been named that by tourists due to all the magnificant turquoise and blue mosaic tiling inside. We had to cover up as a mark of respect, but felt very uncomfortable inside as people were praying while others were taking photos, so decided to leave them in peace to pray. Last stop of the day was the Grand Bazaar, a large inside shopping area over 4000 shops wıth 18 exits a bit ming boggling really, our only purchase was some turkish delight! One of the locals stopped to chat with us on his way home from work, really lovely people, quite humorous. Back to hotel about 6pm.
