Free day, tried to sleep in. Went to get Debbie some conditioner early, hard to find when you can't read signs. Got onto the metro after getting lost, language barrier had me buy a two day pass instead of two one day passes. Got the hang of it pretty quickly though. The poverty is pretty bad and got hassled a few times, Debbie pretended to be Russian with a few "NYET" barked at anyone who came close, some asked for money directly, others dropped a ring at your feet and offered to you, others wanted you to sign petitions so they could suss out where your wallet was, some tied string around your wrist as a friendship then demanded money from you ( Had to save Young TC - Korean lad from being accosted, the african men that were doing it weren't happy but cause it was a public place and, I presume, as I didn't seem an easy target they backed off - pheeww) , others just looked miserable and begged.
Anyway on the bright side we started at Arc De Triumph, macaroon's at Laudree's, walked down to the Louvre through the Tuileries gardens, had a sandwich for lunch beside a pool there, hot inside the Louvre but very impressive all the same, out for a cold drink from a street vendor, then on Metro to skyscraper - viewed the city from 56 floors up. Awesome. Then back on the Metro to the Latin quarter to have a crepe from a craperry ( not how you say it but guy cooked nice crepes and once he new we were from NZ (All Blacks) he lightened up a bit. From there a short walk to Notre Dame, then walked down the Seine and back to Latin quarter for tea at nice wee french restaurant. Debbie has given up on choosing meals now cause mine always seem better, we share most of the time anyway. By the time we got home we were both stuffed, although apparnetly I feel asleep as soon as we got home - I blame the small bottle they made me buy instead of a glass, they laughed when I asked.
