Had a minor tech disaster: my i-pod has decided to stop working so I'm writing this from the hotel's computer.
Well another day another town. Headed east from Madison to Milwaukee on the shores of Lake Michigan. It should have been a fairly straightforward 90 mile journey. However they are currently digging up much of Wisconsin so we hit several diversions. Then when we hit Milwaukee it turned out the State Fair was on so the traffic was a bit crazy. Understandable though when we found out ZZ Top and MC Hammer were topping the entertainment bill.
Anyway headed to the south of the city to find a hotel and again haggled a good rate from the receptionist (thank you Expedia).
Parked up the bike for the day and headed into town on the bus. Milwaukee is really nice - like a mini Chicago. And I say 'mini' in the broadest sense of the word as it has about 1.5 million people. It is famous for beers, sausages and the Fonz. We looked for his statue (the Bronze Fonz) but couldn't find it.
We used our bus ticket transfer to head to the Miller Brewery. This was a lesson to all brewery and distillery tours I have been on in the past. First off it is FREE!! And then after a pretty good but not overly technical tour you get 3, yes 3 full size beers to sample.
After that educational experience we went back to the centre for a few craft ales in the lovely riverside bars. Managed to stay sensible enough to get the last bus back to the hotel at 10.45.
