Well the time has come to write the final blog.
Had a great few days in a beautiful warm Chicago, making it even harder to leave.
On Tuesday took the bus into the Loop and checked out some of the sights: Route 66 start sign, the big silver bean, water tower, did a bit of pressie shopping on Michigan Ave. Fancied getting a really good view so headed for the John Hancock building near the lakeshore (1127 ft). My book had given me a sneaky tip to avoid the $15 pp entry to the 94th floor observation deck. We took the elevator to the Signature Lounge on the 96th for nowt and took in some incredible views while sipping a $7 beer. About 6 jumped a bus back to hotel in Lincoln Park and headed out to enjoy some of the excellent rough'n'ready bars for a while.
On Wednesday I took a stroll to Wrigley Field, home of Cubs baseball, and a look round some of the fab vintage stores round there. Then after lunch we walked to Lincoln Park Zoo. A bit too overrun with kids for my liking but a nice place for a freebie (yes at this point $$$ are getting a bit tight!)
