We slept 'til 8am, making good use of the morning instead of sitting in traffic, we did some house work and left the hotel at 10am. Today we headed to Universal Studios, Hollywood!!! After driving around the place looking for the Frankenstien Carpark (we had been lazy and opted for the closer 'VIP' parking) We had finally arrived. Universal studios was busy with people everywhere so we again, so we opted for the VIP Front of Line pass which came in handy a couple times when the lines were very large ( although, this came at a price!!). First stop in the park was the Jurrasic Park ride (Leah's fav.. considering she is a dinosaur nut)! A fun yet corny ride that includes a water log type ride splash at the end, its safe to say we got satched. Infact I don't think you can travel to Universal Studios without being hit with some bit of water, be it from the refreshing cooling fans, to rides, to the 4D shows (Sherek's snot when he blow's his nose) water is definately a common theme. Not that we were complaining as it was a rather sizzling 30 degrees. We also went on the studio tour (includes famous sets, cities and backgrounds), checked out The Mummy (as in the movie the mummy) Rollercoaster, Animal Actors, Sherek 4D, Water World stunt show, Special Effects show, the Haunted House and the Universal Studio Shops. All in all it was a fun day out, yet still a smimilar experience to Movie World. I would have to say that the best thing was probably the 360 degree 3D King Kong experience which was part of the studio tour. I probably can't do it justice trying to describe it, but it was like sitting in one of the trucks on jurrasic park, where these massive T-rex's come out and try and eat you, then King Kong comes along and saves the day... it was pretty incredible.
After 8-9 hours of wondering around Leah and I were b*****ed so we headed back to our hotel for a good nights sleep. We found an okay little hotel on Sunset Boulevard, only a block away from Hollywood. As we were so close we decided to check out Hollywood the next morning. We set off from our hotel and walked the 10 mins until the start of the Hollywood walk of fame. Our first impression was not a great one, it was literally full of bums and stank so bad, it was worse than a nightclub toilet at 5am. We walked along hoping that it was going to get better, I mean come on this was the hollywood where was the glitz and glam?? After a few more blocks of drunken hobos we started coming into the shopping area, I suppose it was more like the cheap touristy shop area where you can buy 3 hollywood shirts for $9.99 and everyone else on the street (who was not a bum) was trying to talk you into going on a hollywood tour, or a tour of the stars homes. After finding a McDonalds we decided we would grab some breaky, only to have a bum sleeping on the table next to us (you can see a reacurring theme here right?) after quickly eating our food and getting out of there we finally come across the decent part of hollywood, we saw the Kodak Theatre and the Chinese Theatre (there is copious amount of celebrity foot/hand prints in the concrete out front). We knew we had hit the middle of hollywood as there were tourists everywhere, not to mention the odd local trying to make a few bucks dressing up as celebrities/super hereos, even some dude decked out as Bumblebee from Transformers. After seeing everything that was really worth seeing we headed back to the hotel to check out. Leah made us get a taxi back as she refused to walk past urine central again! We later realised (on our return visit) that the other end of Hollywood boulevard is actually really nice.. hmm.. should have statyed at that end! After checking out of our hotel it was time to hit the road again, this time south along Highway 805 towards San Diego.
