Mark & Den's Travels
Summary of New Zealand-Had to think long and hard about what were my highlights. The scenery, the diversity of the mountain ranges, lakes large enough you can not see all the way round, white sandy beaches with nobody on them, whatever we wanted to do you can do it within 4hr drive from beach to mountains, If I wanted a long hard days tramping or a lazy day on the beach. Highlights for me, was all the little things that touched me most like laying outside next to a river or on the beach watching the stars form in the night sky. trying to work out the constalations.A little robin that came to talk to us at Manapouri Lakes, swimming in a lake with icebergs floating by, Mt Cook National Park Lake Hooker, The Remarkables, Lake Wanaka Roys Peak was 100% New Zealand for me. climbing for 4hrs upup and more up, then sitting on the ridge at the top of the peak looking out over Queenstown, Mt Aspiring, and Lake Wanaka. The Emarald Lakes at Tongario Volcanic Crossing, Black Coral, Sea Dragons, Waterfalls that run uphill, Dunedin Yellow Eyed Penguins,Albatross. St Faith Anglican church where they have a window behind the alter which a sculpture of christ looking like he is standing on he water at Lake Tawara. early morning skinny dipping in the cold rivers. Some life time memories skydiving Lake Taupo for my 51st birthday.
I think Australia has got to be outstanding to even get close to New Zealand. If we had our time again I would have done some extra things like cycling, overnight tramping, maybe some white water rafting. If that all dont beleive we missed out on much!!
Would we come back?? Oh for sure, at least for the Rugby in 2011
