Mark & Robyn's Travels
We woke up this morning to a sunny sky, so it looked to be a promising day when we got to Hilton Head. However, as we were driving from Charleston the sky darkened and then we hit the rain, and more rain, and more rain. By the time we got to our condominium on Hilton Head it was still raining and the pools and beach were closed. Melanie's 33rd birthday is today, but she had been having a sharp pain in her lower abdomen for the past 36 hours. After checking in it was decided we needed to take her to the hospital to make sure she did not have appendicitis. So... no beach time, 3 1/2 hours in the emergency room, and more rain. Before we took Melanie to the hospital she had asked if we could extend the stay one more day and adjust our stay in Savannah. We called the front desk about it and they were pretty much not helpful, so we also asked about a late check-out. The latest check-out can be extended is to 11 am, not much help. We just left everything as is and decided we would just hang around the resort after we checked out. So..off to the hospital for Robyn and Melanie. Debby and I sat and drank a bottle of wine. After a series of tests including a cat-scan it was determined Melanie did not have appendicitis but does have an ovarian cyst. If you remember back to the night at the Charleston Grill, and the next night at Magnolia's there was a lot of raucous laughing going on; it is possible that Melanie laughed so hard she may have burst the cyst. Anyway, this can be handled back in Dallas.
We had dinner reservations at a restaurant called the Jazz Corner that has a live band. The reservation was for 7:30, and I spoke to them around 5:30 and explained the situation. Robyn had called and said they would not have the cat scan results till after 7, so there was no way we could make that reservation. They changed the reservation for 8 and said if we were late it would not matter-- they understood and the table would be held. It was, and we didn't get there until 8:40. The food was good, the music was great, and it was a good way to end a miserable day. Tomorrow can only get better.
