VIAJE EL FIN
So the last day of the trip was spent in Salamanca which is a big university town, the oldest I believe in Spain. It was interesting seeing all the young people and hearing different languages. After being in all these different parts and seeing signs in Andalu, Portuguese, English, I really like being back in Pamplona where you will only hear Castellano and Uskerra. I'm very happy to be in a place that doesn't have much english.
We had a little tour of Salamanca to see the cathedral and different historical parts but we were all extremely tired and the sight of cathedrals now, despite how gorgeous they all are, really doesn't spark our interest. There was some interesting things though like a painted ceiling with all the constellations that they used I forget in what century to teach astrology and the first graffiti ever. To let people know when a man graduated and was a doctor he would get the bull blood (a delicacy) from the big fight and write his name on the stone wall. The wall is still stained…
We were all so tired and our tour guide kept repeating everything in english and spanish because she thought we didn't understand and would repeatedly say - I know you're tired stay with me only five more minutes - that is not how you grab our attention. After the tour we went out for churros and chocolate, and then did a little bit of shopping and ordered pizza before going out.
Being in a university town at the discos was fun, I danced a lot, and with a bit of makeup you couldn't tell my face was covered in a rash! When it was time to go home though I stayed with my friend Cristina to make sure everyone got into a taxi. Unfortunately the two of us ended up alone without money; my bag was stollen. I no longer have my residency card or my phone but I'm more upset about my friends camera that was in my bag. I handed it to a friend and assumed he took it with him when I didn't find him after dancing. In the morning he said he passed it to someone else to passed it to someone else who put it on the "pile of everyone's stuff". I'm mad at myself that I spent an extra hour in the club trying to find a way back to the hotel instead of looking around for my bag. Now I have a trip to Paris and don't have the card that I need to get back in the country…
After Salamanca I stayed the night with Caroline at her host sisters apartment in Madrid. It was nice to relax and talk with a few people before heading home. We went out for mexican food and then in the morning did a bit of shopping before I had to catch the bus back to Pamplona. All in all it was an amazing trip. Just hope I can go to Paris still…
Also now after seeing everyone and getting to know them better there are so many more trips I want to take. I need to visit people and other places in Spain. Unfortunately 33euros a week for teaching english does not fund this dream lifestyle.
