Tuen Mun, Hong Kong
Now I am finally in Hong Kong. I arrived Thursday night (13/01-11) and my HK room mate picked me up at the Lingnan bus stop. I missed my flight from Bali, because of a very stupid person! So I had to find my own way to Lingnan, no pick up service.
Well I managed and since I arrived I have been busy attending so many events. The first night I had a chinese dinner with my roomy and her friend, and at the restaurant I meet Birgitte and Tina (two of my co-students from DK). Because of my missed flight I was pretty confused and missed the first introduction day, so it was so nice to see some familiar faces:) But now after almost one week I feel a bit settled, so now the real HK life can begin.
And now one more week has passed and i haven't even had time to write on my blog. Still a lot of stuff is happening all the time.
After the first night in hostel B, we had another orientation day, including a library tour and some other information. I also had my first cantonese class and all i remember is 'peng de la' which means to lower the price when you are barkening and 'mm-goi' and that means thank you. It sure was a challenging class, defenitely the pronounciation was so difficult. I sure hope the Chinese class will be easier. I have had 4 Chinese lessons so far and for now we are all doing quite well, but think it will soon change :)
During the first week I went out with Molly, my sweet room mate Della and some other girls. My room mate changed from a local to Della from Korea and she is the sweetest room mate. We spent most of the time on shopping and eating and we explored the area around Lingnan campus. The city that is closest to the university is Tuen Mun, there we go to the mall to eat or to get coffee at Starbucks, our energy source! Another city is Mong Kok and that is just a tiny weeny bit bigger than Tuen Mun, so a bit more to explore. We went to the Ladies Market, which is a gigant marked with a lot of cheap stuff for ladies, just what I'm craving for.
The first week was mostly spent in Tuen Mun or Mong Kok, for shopping and eating. Hanging out with different people. There are so many new wonderful people to get to know and of course the wonderful Danish girls:)
Take a look at my pics and then you can see some of my first week experiences. Enjoy!
