I've arrived! It took 22 hours, 4 airports and 3 countries but I enjoyed every minute of it. Non-U.S. based airlines are just better! When I got off the plane in Bangkok, a woman was waiting for me (holding a sign with my name on it) to escort me to the next gate so I didn't miss my connecting flight. Similarly, when I arrived in Chiang Mai, someone was waiting there to escort me to the international baggage claim. Now I know how celebrities feel, minus all the annoying paparazzi.
I'm also a fan of any airline that serves a meal on their flights, even if it's bad. #1) It's free and #2) I love to see what kind of random food is served. We got tea sandwiches on the one hour flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. Three half sandos on white bread (with the crusts cut off) consisting of:
- cheese, tomato, butter & mayo
- egg, carrots, butter and mayo
- mystery meat, lettuce, cucumber, and, you guessed it...butter and mayo
They also came with chocolate cake and some kind of juice that reminded me of Tang. Yum!
