Today we got to go to a ruin of an old city/palace called Madinat al-Zahra. It was built for the the caliph of Cordoba who was the Muslim ruler. It is located outside of Córdoba in the mountains so that he could see all of Córdoba and the river. Archeologists have only uncovered about 10% of it and they are not exactly sure what all the rooms and buildings were for because they were in ruins. The city was built with the most expensive materials and was made to be very impressive to that the caliph could show everyone his wealth, though it only lasted 80 years. The weather here is interesting because it takes all day to heat up to the full temperature. In the morning it is 25 degrees and then by noon its 30, two in the afternoon it is around 36 degrees and then it does not reach 42 until five o'clock. Then even when the sun goes down it is still 30 degrees and it doesn't cool down until 7 in the morning. The days here a pretty relaxing because you get to siesta in the afternoon which basically means to sleep because it's to hot to do anything else. Now it is time for me to Siesta so I will write again later.
