The picture above is of a canal that ran through a park in a town near Leiden. Everything is so close together that I didn't even realize we were walking in Oegesteest until we headed back, and I saw a sign that said 3km to Leiden. When they say parks here they don't mean like parks in Saskatoon with fields and bushes and play grounds, with picnic benches, they are forest areas with walking trails or places along the canal. Something interesting I learned today was that apparently here one of the most popular things to put on bread and sandwiches are chocolate and fruit flavoured sprinkles. They are made by a company called DeRuijter. The fruit flavoured ones tasted very odd but the chocolate was good. It's kind of the same idea as fairy bread in Australia. Oh and the seagulls here are HUGE.
