Journey to Melbourne was long- another night travel. (This is the second time I've seen a sunrise- both times because I was travelling on the bus- never usually get up so early). Got here at last. Lou and her boyfriend Pavel picked me up at 8am. I got a call in Sydney from a temping agency for a job, but when i phoned them back it turned out to be Dominoes Pizza. Ha ha nice try Dominoes- but you cant crack me that easy! (ive not had fast food for 5 weeks- apart from one unfortunate incident in Brisbane but that doesnt count bacuse it was Good Friday) Anyway, had a quick nap back at Lou's then we went into the city, had a chinese for lunch and that night we went out to the movies- the girls saw Step Up 2- and it is so good. Cheesy, funny, romantic, and some amazing dancing!
Lou lives in a really cute 2 bed house with her boyfriend Pavell and another Czech couple Terese and Simon. Im staying in their living room at the mo so im looking for an apartment in town.
The next day was the craziest day I've had in Australia!!
Went into town with Lou, got a map and a few leaflets from the information centre, sent an email to the temp agency (Dominoes) and a few minutes later got a call from them telling me they wanted me to work now! So rushed aound town, bought some black trousers, two pairs of shoes- one for work purposes and one not- and a top to wear (I was in jeans and a vest), and found my way around town, got the tram to St Kilda and entered the office. This was all within half an hour. And i have to say m not getting as lost as much anymore- well i mean im still getting lost- I usually add an hour onto my journey but i eventually find my way. So im getting less blonde!
Anyway, arrived at Jigsaw (putting pieces together- clever huh) the agency, i did some data entry testing etc and they sent me off to the company- which is a construction company. And now Im a receptionist. I have my own desk and computer and I answer the phone and put them through to the right people. Oh and its a fifteen min walk from lou's house!
So after my first 3 hours (2-5) I walked into town, went to Lou's work, walked around town whilst waiting for her. Went back to her work, sat down in the casual area, took my coat off, and relaxed. The candles smelt good- you know i love the smell of matches and things burning.
Anyway, had a hot choc , looked around and MY COAT WAS ON FIRE! Thats right. I put my coat on a candle, looked around and it had caught fire! My beautiful (and only) coat got stamped on and thumped with me yelling (mildly). And now has 5 rustic holes. WEll they were holes and burn marks but i decided to cut out all the burn marks and make it look better. It didnt.
Anyway, it was a night in with some wine and TV. Next full day at Porter Davis was good. Got a call from Lou Sat night and I worked a couple hours at her restaurant to help out. Would have a job there but they are sacking people because they've not got enough business.
Anyway it is good so far. Its nice being with people you know.
Im not sure many people know, but Im thinking about maybe staying in Melbourne for an extra month or so. So would be back home later. But that depends on the apartment situation. I'll let you know.
oh We went back an hour on Sunday- it is now winter- So im 9 hours ahead of you. Weather has been okay. Not that much sun though. But im sure i'll get that in Fiji!
