Petit 'jour, & stairs!!!After an 18 hour flight from Perth and 21 hours from Melbourne, the Ferreira girls have finally arrived in Paris...this town won't know what it...Bonjour Paris :-) We arrived at Charles de Gaulle, ready to hit the town considering it felt like it was still 4 in the arvo. We were all very anxious to leave the airport but delayed w some conveyor belt technical difficulties. I think our bags broke the machine....Sonia w 27 kilos...computer says no!! Finally all ready to leave, we were greeted by our Algerian taxi driver, who seemed a bit overwhelmed by our beauty or perhaps that he was infact expecting 2 passengers w 2 suitcases and not 4!! All I can say is lucky we played tetris on the plane, it came to good use.Had an exciting ride through Paris, quickly reminded we ain't in Australia anymore. Arrived @ our destination - Rua du Boetie (Boo-sea) after fits of giggles, ridiculous attempts of communication. Dominique tackled the codes for our entry into what wld b our small slice of Parisian living. After getting through 2 entry points, through our cobbled courtyard, we were greeted by what wld be known as the infamous spiral staircase....dum dum dum (drama music)Reminder, we each had suitcases over 20 kilos...let's just say, this was a small taste.of what laid ahead for us. We have discovered the reason why french girls r so thin. Apartment was lovely...quintessential Paris and agd resting place for our 1st night.Day TwoWith our body clocks all out of whack, we strolled dwn our street (passing ppl stumbling home after a big night out) to Champs Elysees @ 8 to find a brekky place. No bacon and eggs for us but rather a petit d'jour, which consists of croissant, coffee of choice and oju. The bkfst of choice for our time here. Once done, hopped on the red hop on hop-off bus and began the sighttseeing around town. Eiffel Tower looked grand, Arc de Triomphe (or as the yanks called it Triumph Arc), Louvre, Musee de Orysee, Notre Dame and so much more. The weather was gr8 and our cameras cld not keep up. Once we had lunch, near The Lafayette....fab shopping district we decided to brave the multiple line metro. On many suggestions from colleagues, we decided to go to Montmarte. It was absolutely beautiful, parisian artists/painters lined the square showing their one of a kind work and the surrounding cafes were heaving w locals and tourists alike. This too was the location of Sacre Couer, which had a beautiful outlook onto Paris. Lucky this place was great bcause we had to deal w I don't know how many flights of stairs, 1 station had ten flights of stairs @ the metro...the train system runs underground!!
Day two ended up w us glamming up for a night on the town. We began w dinner at the Eiffel Tower, which was lovely and the views...WOW. This was for about an 1 1/2 hrs then to meet at Pier 3 for a river cruise. Someone had the idea of walking down the stairs...we must experience everything...especially in heels. AGAIN WITH THE DAMN STAIRS!! I don't even know how many flights!?! The river cruise was lovely and relaxing...maybe too relaxing. This was the start of what was goin to b a very loooooong evening, it was 2200ish and we were bkd for the 2300 Moulin Rouge show. Arrived to Moulin Rouge rnd 2230...waited for the 1000 guests to leave the 2100 show and so we queued w the 996 other ppl waiting for the nxt show. After listening to some whinging yanks, rowdy aussies ready for a big night, a maitre de attempting to talk w an aussie twang (sounded like he came from the campos), 2 cameras removed from us, we were finall seated in the furthest corner of the room...whivh was a blesding in disguise. Lights went down and so began our Moulin Rouge experience w boobies, water snakes and all. Collectively, we would of all seen the show but individually we fell asleep throughout @ different intervals. Jetlag, a 6am wake up call had caught up w us. Finally the 105 minute show was done, we were dropped off to our apartment and crashed to start it all again.
