There are just two more days until we leave for Indonesia! We can't wait, and this trip is on our minds constantly!
Friday evening, our good friend Abe is hosting a going away barbeque on his rooftop. Everyone that hasn't left for their Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) vacation will be there (hopefully!). It's going to be so bittersweet leaving, who knows how long it will be until we see some of these friends again.
Saturday, our bus leaves from Gwangju directly to Incheon airport around 2pm. That gives us time to do some final packing, cleaning, and one last Korean meal. Even though our flight doesn't leave until shortly after midnight Saturday, this was the last available bus to the airport that day. It will give us plenty of time, should we hit some Chuseok traffic.
Once we arrive on Bali, we have a hotel five minutes from Legian beach for the first two nights. After that, nothing is planned, but we have lots of ideas. We'd like to spend a night in Padang Bai. It's primarily a ferry town, with lots of people coming to/from the Gilis. We figure we may be able to get a good deal to the Gilis if we go directly there, rather than from the touristy Kuta beach. There is also a secret blue lagoon which has great snorkeling Kenny would like to explore.
From there, we'd like to have 4-5 days on the three Gili Islands. Our primary goal there is to become scuba certified. They've got fabulous diving all over the Gilis. Kenny's boss told him some horror stories about diving last night, but I'm sure the excitement will outweigh the nerves.
One of the things I'm most excited about is seeing our friends Ann, Jeaninne, Neil, and Blake. We met them all in Korea while teaching, and it worked out that we'll be there at the same time. After we leave, we're planning on traveling through Sumatra with Neil for 6 days.
We've tied up all our loose ends here in Korea. I sent the last of the boxes via post, Kenny got his pension, and our bags are packed. All we're thinking now is, "Why can't time move faster?!"
