We spent a couple of days in Byron Bay, which is Australia's most easterly point. It is quite a small place, with lots of surfers and hippies! We enjoyed a day on the beach and tried to take a dip in the sea to cool off...but, while the sea is great for surfers, it's not so good for a paddle....Laura got knocked over by a GIANT wave, taking most of her bikini with it! She managed to cover her decency before the wave disappeared though, thankfully!!.
One day we did a walk around the Cape of Byron, which followed the coast around to the most easterly point and up to the Lighthouse, which was built in 1901! The walk then took us back through the coastal rainforest to Byron Bay. The walk was very scenic but a bit hard going in places...which made us realise we need to get in training for our upcoming Inca Trail Trek!!
