Early rise as yet another huge day in the car (groan). Looked out the window and everything is white. Thank goodness for snow plows and salt on the road. The roads weren't too bad so off we went. Woke up to rain, ice and cold...shocker. So we rugged up and drove an hr and a half to Niagara Falls. Was it an impressive sight....have to admit it was. Snow was actually traveling up from the water so it must be pretty cold down there. We took the elevator down behind the falls to go to the lookout points brrrrrrr. Well it was nice to wake up to weather that wasn't icy cold....so not so many layers today. We headed off to the national monument and reflecting pool. Washington is so much cleaner and less cluttered than NY, hardly any people walking around and doesn't smell. So we were pretty happy to walk around Washington. Monument and pool were really cool....literally as half of the reflecting pool was frozen over. For some reason the ice and ducks kept the kids quite amu...

Well....waking up this morning, hmmmm that wasn't fun but we have a bus to catch. So finished packing, got Linda organised at her hotel and then headed to catch the bus. Got to the bus stop a bit too early so that was a fun and cold wait. Finally we boarded our "deluxe" coach,clearly they have never read that meaning up in the dictionary. Yay the big day has finally arrived as we are sending NYE in Times Square. We had a big sleep in and decided to head into the square as I needed to go to one of the shops......big mistake. They already had thousands of people in sectioned areas. We got blocked in with mass of people trying to move down the block.
