So first full day on the ship started with the announcement that the medical emergency that kept us docked back in Florida until after midnight was.....a dead body. So someone died on the ship within 2 hrs of sailing.
So we showered and went for breakfast. Now breakfast was pretty awesome, way too many selections so we went a little silly. Then we headed off to the pool area. So we sorted our lounge chairs and then had a dip and sat in the hot tub. So life is pretty hard. People watching is a lot of fun here. There are the "look at me" people with implants, fillers and all artificial enhancements, there are the oldies and the families. Of course there are the middle aged men in speedos and ladies that clearly don't look in a mirror when they put their bikinis on that clearly they wore as a child and many pounds ago.
So after exerting myself in the hot tub I went to get a well earned self serve ice cream and took it easy on the sun lounge.
I must be the only person that is aware of a thing called skin cancer, I did not see anyone slip slop slap. So I am a cool kid on my own.
Hmmmm....lunchtime I think. We headed to one of the top deck restaurants. Damn even more selections than breakfast. We were seated at the window which I didn't like as I am not a fan of the ocean. But was restrained and had salmon and salad....delish.
So back to the pool lounger we went. It is hard work eating lunch and we watched as the kids exerted themselves. I then woke up realising I had been having a siesta but thankfully Paul was worse as he was sitting there with mouth wide open, snoring.
So after a lazy afternoon we headed back to dry off as thunder was occurring which meant I was going inside.
We had booked our dinner time so off we went. Now picture this, everyone in shorts and tshirts and I had a tie dyed beach dress on. We turn up to be seated only to be told its formal night and no shorts allowed. So we raced back so Linda could wear jeans and Paul and the boys could put the allowed 3 quarters on. So we raced back to realise everyone else including children had suits, tuxedos and evening gowns on.....we really missed the memo on that one. We were called to be seated so you can only imagine how embarrassing that was. We stood out from the pack.
Our waiter Kevin apologised for not letting us know last night and tried to convince us it was ok......not convinced though. So we sat and had our 3 course fine dining meal and got out of there. Thankfully Kevin told us that on Wednesday we need to be dressed up. So now the challenge occurs......how do you create a formal look out of travelling clothes from our backpacks. Stay tuned for that one.
