Early little start of 6.45am to Venice, again lots of sleeping was done on the bus of courseas theres not much else to do Gayle put cassanova on the TV so i did watch all of that, she has themed dvds for different places we go and cassanova is of course filmed in venice, or set in venice neways. Not much interesting happened on the journey besides the film and when we arrived in Venice we were at another campsite so we checked into our lovely bungalows which was now me, claire, hannah and laurel. We were meeting Gayle for her to take us to venice and head on a little walking tour and have some food, now rome was like a 30/40 min bus journey to get there bus jesus christ venice was a 20/30 min walk then a 30/40 min bus journey, at least in rome the bus stop was right outside, oh well its gota be done aparently no one stays or lives in venice they all live on the mainland find that a little hard to imagine but we shall see. The first thing i noticed about venice besides the fact theres a lot lf water was that it diddnt actually smell bad like i thought it would with it being loads of stagnent water and tht. Our first stop that i remember at least was for food €5 got us a drink, a pizza and some ice cream absoloute bargain the pizza was awsome and the ice cream was delicious!!! We then wandered on looking at some buildings van gough museums i think, we mooched over the rialto bridge which was a bit sucky as there was a big banner advertising somethingso every photo has that stuck in the middle of it :( we had a small break here and marched on, venice is very much like a maze tiny little streets everywhere which appeared to go in every direction, we were assured tho that it was easy to get back to the busses we just had to follow the signs to piazzo roma (p roma) whichwas fine so we marched on and ended up in st marks square which is where Gayle left us to explore by ourselves, we diddnt do a whole lot of exploring as we were aware it was starting to get dark so we just went to see the bridge of sighs, so called because there was a jail one side and where u got executed on the other so everytime u would cross it you would sigh as u knew u were about to die and would never walk back accross it. Now we had the task of walking back of course getting a venician masquarade mask for our masquarade part the following evening bargin at €3! We did as told and looked out for the P Roma signs which was fine until they randomly just seased to exist :( gayle did seem to be truthfull on one element tho everyone does seem to dissapear once it gets dark and everything closes which was totally not helpful when were trying to find where the bus leaves from. After a couple of hours of us all being f***in knackered we finally find the bus stop, success! But then of course the bus was rammed so we were stood up the entire journey home :( we bumped into steph on the bus also who got lost aswell haha useless directions!! We asked the driver where we got off who obviously diddnt quite understand and made us get off about 3 stops too early what a massive belle end! We had to ask for directions at this point and luckily found some lovely women out walking their dogs who pointed us in the right direction....about 1 hour and 30 mins later we finally arrived back at the campsite :( we all pretty much collapsed in bed ready to goback to venice in the morning we wanted to go up in the tower to get some photos as well as visiting the church there which aparently has amazing paintings on the ceilings.
The next morning we got up at a reasonable time to go and get breakfast before trecking back to venice to see it more in the day time, my arm by this point was really fat from the mozzies which had so mercilously attacked me throughout the entire holiday so far so first stop when we got to venice would be the pharmacie for some anti hystamines. We managed with some slight confusion the treck to the bus stop, from this trip so far i truly believe Italians seriously need to multiply the amount of busses they put on the there big touristy cities i still hadnt even sat down on a bus which is a bit annoying when u know u have to walk round in the heat all day. So anyways we got to venice and it was pretty easy to get anti hystamines as he took one look at my arm said oh s***! And knew what tablets i needed :p. We set off heading to st marks square easy enough surely but luckily we were in no rush as our first glimpse of the square was from outside a big church accross a big unbridged hunk of water oopsie but at least we could see it and try to work out which way we had to go. We got to the square in the end and some random man give me some corn which of course made the hundreds lf pigeons swarm all over me, hey a photo oppertunity is a photo oppertunity :) we then stood in the que for the tower thing, we were stood on what were like wide benches which is what they have to use to get around the city when it floods, it cost us €8 for the lift to the top of the tower which was fair the views were amazing it was just a little windy up there :p we got some photos and headed down to visit the church thing which i believe may have been called a basillica. We lined up to get into the basillica which was free but you couldnt take photographs aparently a rule which no one adheared to, it was really pretty inside worth a look. We went and got ourselves a slice of pizza and went to head back as of course we knew we would get lost lol we found a really amazing mask shop whichthe guy diddnt mind if we took photos :) i bought a little magnet for my dad from here too. We obviously got lost following these amazing signs again and ended up in the residential side it turns out people do live here just not loads, by the time we eventually made it to the bus stop im sure in that day alone we had walked the entire perimeter and everywhere inbetween of venice, we needed to go back to the campsite, rest, eat and get ready for our masquarade party.
We headed out to our masquarade party about 8pm and i wore a dress for the first time on this trip shocking most of the people on the trip aparently 4 nights and people seemed to know me just as much as my friends id had for years :p anyway we boogied the night away sweating our t*** off and returned to our gaff to simply drunkenly flash each other of course with laurel winning due to the €1 coin still stuck to the side of her boob :p we passed out in bed with my swollen arm now having the infection running through my vein good job i was drunk or id be panicking and rushing myself to hospital right now :( id see what it was like in the morning and fingers crossed id be alive to actually look! Switzerland tomorrow and another early set off time
