Hi. Update on house - found a bargain, but turned out to a bummer (subsidence, and the guy had no paperwork). But the place could have been preserved as a museum of 70's kitsch. Car is still chugging along, purring like a Bradley AFV (or APC as we call them) as one of my work colleagues put it. Jan just popped over the shops when Chris rang to say you were online. Unfortunately we have Yahoo IM, not smelly old MS. Which was great for India - me and could talk over the hotels free broadband. Finally great weekend, that bright fresh fell of early autumn - but I've got to knuckle down for my last assignment and exam rev for Maths. TTFN, A & J.

sounds like a great idea to me except that Neil keeps addingplaces to go back to, for example Bangkok for another six months - Vietnam for another six months.  But he has already said that he would like to add the u.s and NYC.  I think it would be great.  Will prob just end up being the three of us though .  So we'll see you there xxxxx

Phuong - Hey you beautiful girl, how are you? Good to see you haven?t forgotten us yet! We have made it to Cambodia and it is nowhere near as nice as Vietnam. Saigon wasn?t as good as Nha Trang either. How could it be, you and Thu weren?t there. We?ll see you soon though, don?t worry. If Bangkok is still having problems in a few months, I will be back earlier than I expected and then Mand will join me later. Don?t think mum and dad know about the whole MSN thing, but if you could get them online that would be nothing short of miraculous. As long as you do the typing though, otherwise we might not finish til Monday :o) We?re gonna be doing it (or trying at least)

We?re in Phnom Panh in Cambodia at the mo. Then Malaysia, then Australia. Then there?s a slight problem. I leave Oz in April to go to Bangkok?s Muay Thai Institute for 6 months and Mand stays in Oz. They train you up to fight standard so look forward to seeing the video of me getting knocked the f*** out by some oriental kid in the near future. Then we both (me and Mand, not me and the Oriental kid) head for New Zealand for a couple of months, then back to Vietnam for 4 ? 10 months to get our divemasters and earn enough money to move on to South America. Then maybe the US to finish off ? providing we can get work permits. It?s all flexible obviously, and chances are I?ll be home before Xmas :o)

sorry about the spelling again, thought i  had my dyslexia under control. Got drunk last night and nearly choked to deatth on my own vimto!

Mate, looked at possible cruises to south america and most of the fkers are flight included (b******s). The transatlantic ones mainly go to new york, so that got me to thinking (a dangerous past time on my part). How about after after all your travelling (ie when you've done south america) you have a big party in new york before you fly home to england? The costs of flights to new york at this time of year from england are cheap too, it also gives friends and family a year too save up/book time off work etc (no excuses). It could be the big end to your round the world trip meeting all lof us abroad (unless you're desperate to have a paulsgrove party on your return).

I think this is a great idea and for people like myself who don't want to fly, a nice 6 day cruise to america a week there and back again. Some people could just pop over for a few days and it'd be just as cheap as those doweekends that we used to see you in leeds.

Think about it, it'd be so simple to organise just the dates imagine all the heads rocking round new york after not seeing you for a year and a half? Surely better than an england return. Stuuy even said he'd pay for your hotel there! and he wants to go to madison square gardens to see the wrestling! Let me know if you two are up for this "fantastic" idea as it's so doable for everyone.

Hey everybody,

we are now in Cambodia after floating down the Mekong for the last three days.  It was really peaceful and the scenery was very diverse.  We stopped at a number of places on the way including a coconut sweet making shop, delicious, and a crocodile farm, very sad (at least they didn't have a "and here's one I made earlier" section at the end.  Some of the most interesting bits for me included the fish farms, where entire families (and thier dogs) live on floating houses in the middle of the river, with cages full of fish below.  And the Cham minority village where the women eat, sleep, cook, weave, and do everything together in the vacinity of about three buildings.  One of the women looked as though she were already 9 1/2 months pregnant so Niel and I were just trying not to make any sudden moves or noises around her incase she dropped it there and then.  They had an old placenta nailed up in the hallway for good luck and of the people present at the time Neil would of been the only one tall enough to nail this one next to it, so I think he was especially greatfull to her for holding on.

Phnom Penh seams o.k so far but we have only been here for a day and got distracted half way though the walking tour by a bright shiney bar showing lots of sports (well I say we).  We're planning on going to S-21 where the Khmer Rouge held and tourtured their prisoners before sending them to Choeung Ek (the killing fields).  So that will be a pleasant afternoon.  As they both close at 11.30 and don't open again until 2pm we thought we'd spend the intermitant period at the shooting range, luckily Neil has gone off the idea of blowing up a cow with a rocket launcher.
