Today we headed to the bus station around 8am to catch the bus to Dubai for the day, the bus journey was pretty non-descript and took around 1hour and 30mins. We got off the bus just before the traffic gets busy in Dubai and changed to the metro as it is much quicker, we took it to the Mall of the Emirates and grabbed a quick snack before jumping on the Dubai tour bus.
The bus took almost 3 hours but we felt like we got to see loads of Dubai and get a good feel for the lay out. The bus took us past a few different malls, Jumierah beach, the Burj Al Arab, the Palm and a few other areas before we jumped off the bus to visit the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, standing at an impressive 821m. We had to queue for around an hour before getting in the lift which took us to the 124th floor, the views were amazing, as you might expect, with both an outdoor and indoor viewing area to take it all in. After taking some photos and having a good look around we joined the queue for the lifts back down to ground! As we had been making our way up to the viewing platform, there had been an earthquake in Iran/Pakistan border and tremors had been felt across Dubai and Abu Dhabi where some tall office blocks had been evacuated- but we never really felt anything .
We then headed to a restaurant called Carluccio's, overlooking the Dubai fountains, where we met a friend of mum's from Aberdeen. Jane then dropped us back at the bus station where we caught our ride back to Abu Dhabi, Jen picked us up and took us back to the apartment. Andrew had a pizza craving so dinner was quickly ordered and delivered, after finishing the last of the duty free champers we headed off to bed.
