It is our last day and be begin it shopping at the local market. The booths are small and narrow and of various structures. Most items are similar between the vendors. Each vendor greets you with, "Welcome, come see my things." It is like being at a carnival where the games are and each barker tries to get your business. I mainly looked for items that could be sold as a silent auction article. All items are locally made and when possible I took the picture of the person who made the item. Wes, Robert, and Peter where very patient with us women as we had to see everything and then go back again.
After this we went to the offices of Life for Children where they where having Fellowship. Here all the guardians and orphans that can make it come twice a month for a sharing and reporting time. They sang and danced for us, and again this was so enjoyable. Introductionsof Wes, Micki, and myself where made as Micheal talked to them in their language.
Michael mentioned about Walking Forward Educational Ministry and the help we gave with the $1000 last December. Those funds went for uniforms, textbooks, and school fees. For each they clapped in expression of their gratitude. Then he asked for a couple of guardians to say a few words. Each expressed their faith in God, appreciation for us coming so far and how much they appreciated all we are doing to help the children.
Several orphans also gave their testimony that expressed graitude for Life for Children, praises and thankfulness to God, and for the sponsors that are helping them. It was here that I met Janet, the girl I am sponsoring and her Grandfather of 70 years. Janet is in Form 4 which means she graduates in November and will continue onto University.
Most of the orphans are quite and shy but Janet was open, friendly, and was willing to be hugged. I enjoyed this opportunity so very much. Joseph was there today and he began to talk more. Micke, my sister, was able to meet with Cleophas and told him she would sponsor his education through Walking Forward Educational Ministry.
From here it was out for our last meal and then onto the airport. Micki and I flew from Kisumu to Nairobi and then onto Amsterdam together. Then she left for London and I went to Germany and then to Atlanta. We left Kisumu at about 6:30 PM on Saturday and I arrived in Atlanta at 1:30 PM on Sunday. I got a lot of stamps in my new passport but would definetly go with direct flights next time.
Thanks for sharing your comments with us, they are all appreciated. Keep watching and we will get the pictures up for you to enjoy. Thanks for all your prayers and please pray that God will continue to direct Walking Forward Educational Minsitry as our focus remains to serve the poor.
Blessings to all of you.
Micki, and Marcia in Kenya.
