Another fantastic week!
Yes mum, Rachel Fisher!
The group picked me up from Chisinau last Sunday on their way back from the Ukraine, which was nice. The weeks have flown by- I can't believe we're getting the overnight train tonight!
Mairi and I were able to redeem our cooking skills with an epic spag bol with garlic bread and cookies and ice cream (we won best dinner in the wave 2 awards ceremony!) Which yes, I did organise and make certificates for and got people to fill in nomination forms. I won 'Most articulate sleeper.'
The weather up until this week has been nothing but hot hot hot, however we had a couple of storms in the evenings. On Wednesday after the orphanage we went to Old Orhei (highlight of the trip!) which was a church in a sort of gorge. We went into a tunnel under a chapel, and then we were in a cave (a monk's home) he opened the front door and we were standing on a cliff- it was breathtaking!
We took the translators out for tea as well, which was a nice way to say thanks! The boys tried hard for the last dinner, but they didn't realise there were eggs in pancakes! Caroline won 'Most Vulgar' she always says sugarplum rather than swearing. When she won she bashfully said 'I'd never farted in public before then.' We all just cracked up!
Yesterday wave 3 came and we had a massive party with the boys- balloons, bubbles, paint, shaving foam! Crazy! Victor P launched himself into a bucket of blue paint- the carer wasn't best amused because she's washed him that morning!
Had a slight downer- lost my camera! Hopefully I'll see it again, but hey ho! It was really emotional leaving the boys, even the guys in our group were balling. When we got to Chisinau though we had a final lovely BBQ and then went out to Booze Time again last night with the other group.
So tonight we're doing the epic Chisinau-Bucharest overnight train (wheel-change included). We're all sad the trip's ending and we're gona be saying bye to each other as well.
