Drove from Havana to Cien Fuegos after a nice evening at the Tropicana. The show is one of the best in the world with more than one hundred dancers and artist of the best quality. Again lots of photos.
The drive was around 270k mostly along a almost deserted 4 lane motorway. We stayed with a family ( b and b) in quite a nice old house. The owner a dentist with two children, one,on her last year at university were very nice . Many professional people seem to rent out rooms to make ends meet.Since the revolution in 1959 everybody seems to earn the same amount of money around 35euros a month. The rental is very controlled by the state with a great amount of beaurocacy. The people seem to accept the situation and also the government and at the same time being very happy and extremely helpful. We had a four course dinner at the house which was surprisingly good followed this morning by a huge four course breakfast. Good job we don't get charged extra baggage for the extra pounds we are putting on. We had a couple of great guys take us for a trip to the Malacon ( a beach promenade ) on two tricycles at the end of which we all had the best Mojitos to date.
This afternoon we drove to Trinidad about 100k south east ( we actually drove 170k having taken a wrong turn ) to a very nice B&B run by Tania and her family in the old part of the town. We had a incredible lobster dinner with ALL the trimmings at the house ( sounds like a eating holiday ) before going out to more great music ( just arrived back) and salsa allthough we didn't participate.
The photo includes our two cycle taxi riders.
