Yep couldn't sleep. Got out of bed about 5.30am and decided to have a wander around. First impressions is a very clean place, not much rubbish around at all. There are thousands of drink dispensing machines, they are everywhere and none seem vandalised or broken. I thought at this early time there would only be a few people out but the place was already waking up. It was probably about 22C but very muggy. Grabbed some water and bananas and headed back to the room. We decided to have a wander around, grab a coffee and have a bit of a nosey around, it was now about 7am and the place is really starting to wake up. We walked past one entrance to the train station and it was like ants scurrying around. Grabbed a coffee and had a wander around some of the back alleys and smaller shops. Seems none of these will open until 9.30 or 10am. The heading of this is probably misleading we need to board the train to head back to the airport about 1.30pm so we really only have a morning here. Headed back to the room to make the most of it (what there is of it) until 11am check out time. Wandering down for lunch we came across walk I can only describe as Japans version of pokie lounges. I have no idea what the game was but they seem engrossed in it. It is also interesting to see the contrast of fashion, here was this tiny lady dressed in traditional Japanese clothes crossing the road alongside teenagers in ultra modern outfits. Had some local curries for lunch with some ice tea, don't think I will bother with the ice tea again. Now to trudge the 50kg of suitcases up the road to the train station. We did a recon before and the best way is straight up the road. It is now 30C and very humid, by the time we got to the train station I was saturated. It is about 80 minutes from Shinjuku to Narita Airport, 75% was through built up areas such as Cities, suburbs etc. It is only the last 15 or so minutes it changes to paddy fields. About half way to Narita it started bucketing down and was still bucketing down by the time we get to the First Class Lounge. Still got about 4 hours to kill before the flight. Bar is well stocked so why not. Food was a bit disappointing though, we were hoping for some sushi but no such luck. Boarded on time, a quick feed, watch a movie and managed to get about 7 hours kip on the way home. Quick change from International to Domestic at Sydney and home in a Dash 8. Got the limo service home and now sorting through all of our stuff
