Woke up to miserable weather, so happy to leave Belfast. Still takes me a bit to get used to the fact that it is only 160k to the capital of another country. The drive is quite boring, freeway all the way. Got a hotel in Parnell St about 500m from the Temple Bar area. Dropped out bags at the hotel, got rid of the car back to the airport rental crowd and back to the city. We wandered across to Temple Bar and on to Dublin Castle. There is such a different atmosphere between Belfast and Dublin. Dublin has a vibe and most people very welcoming. There is however a lot of homeless, druggies and beggars. They however generally leave you alone. Lots and lots of tourists. We kept heading back to the Temple Bar area for food and drink. Sunday night they had bands outside in the small square and People were sitting around drinking their pints out of plastic cups listening to the music. Every pub you walk into has live music. The pub grub is good but I have probably had enough of it now. The second day in Dublin we walked up to Trinity College then on to the Natural History Museum only to find it closed on Mondays. I was looking forward to seeing some of the stuff they have found in the peat bogs over the years, maybe next time. Karen went and did a bit of shopping and I looked around the GPO which was the centrepiece of the 1916 uprising which eventually led to an independent Republic of Ireland. I like how they have kept the interior as it was rather than modernising it. At the last dinner in Dublin some Irish dancers added to the live music. Early start to the USA tomorrow, need to be at airport at 6.30am
