Well, since it has been about 2 weeks since my last entry, the last most of you heard I was money-less, internship-less, and had nothing to do, and I have about 30 minutes before I'm headed out to do stuff (finally), I thought I would provide an update on my life in Madrid: Part II.
Well, first, the internship:
Last Monday, after still no word from my supervisor, I thought I would pay a visit to the office. As it turns out, APUNE shares an office with Fulbright Spain. When I arrived, there was nobody there who worked for APUNE, and nobody had heard anything about an intern coming to work for them. Needless to say, after a few phone calls and a few words of encouragment from employees, I left there pretending like I believed that everything was alright and would be worked out promptly.
And I immediately set to work thinking of my contacts and options for getting an internship, in communications, last-minute, in Madrid, in August. I sent a letter to In-Madrid, a monthly english-language magazine which offers internships (I still have not heard back). And then I considered what I would do if I found myself without an internship. Would I come home and work some more? Would I stay in Spain and enjoy myself, sans-dinero? Would I request a refund for the credits I paid for to take care of the money problem? What to do. . .what to do.
But the next day (probably realizing I was serious about the fact that I NEEDED to start working RIGHT AWAY) my supervisor called me. . .and I started working. And so far it's going well. One day I will be able to look at the APUNE website and click on the Spanish version, and say, "Hey, I DID THAT!!" :) And I get to work with Fulbright people. (Can anyone say, teaching English in S.America after I graduate?)
Ok, so work aside. . .what else have I been up to?
Well, I went to the Warner Bros. theme park. Got in after 8 pm so got a good fare (16 euro compared to like 33). Don't go. Not worth it. Especially with a Spanish guy who walks too fast and acts like a little kid. All I have to say about that place.
darn. the really interesting stuff will have to wait a few min. i'll come back and edit this later. look for:
