Thursday 8th June
A beautiful 21 degrees today as we drive 250 kms to Streaky Bay situated on the west coast on the Eyre Peninsular. Once again, the roads are excellent. We stopped for morning tea at Penong, another bustling little town on the Nullarbor. Great coffee, cake and good service at the café here.
We left the Eyre Highway at Ceduna and on to the Flinders Highway, and finally some green patches here and there.
Streaky Bay has more than 360km of the most spectacular coastline on the Great Australian Bight.
We stayed three nights in a very new caravan park (opened in February) and boy is it state of the art!
Amenities are superb - ensuites all new, plus there are also separate toilets and showers, and the laundry was also excellent. Washing baskets and trolleys were provided, which is very rare. More washing here and warm sheets and doona on the bed as the nights are very cold.
The lounge area was terrific, and the smell of leather was still apparent from the new lounge suite. There was also a flat screen TV, snooker table and library.
Every detail has been thought of. The park even had it's own desalination plant!
Each site virtually had a 360 degree view of the stunning Streaky Bay.
It was just a beautiful location in a stunning part of the Eyre Peninsular.
