PAPERWORK
Right then,
I havn`t been able to update this for a while, which I think will be a bit of a theme for this trip, so I will add the days in when I can. This will mean that you`ll get 4 or 5 days at a time (or 30), I will add a title for each one so you lot can skip the ones you have no interest in!! Hopefully this will work!
Ok so I was ment to just cruise out to the airport at Narita this morning, pick up my bike and be on my way to Copenhagen... yeah right. After constantly joking about having missing paperwork at customs (mainly to do with Russia not Japan), I of course had missing paperwork. I picked up the Air Waybill and the Carnet de Passage (that is the paperwork for the bike saying that you will take it out of Japan again and not flog it off to some locals for a stupid amount of money `cause they can`t buy that model bike here!) from Japan Airlines Cargo building and then went across to the Customs building to clear it. Turns out that I actually needed to go to the Japan Auto Federation (like the RACV, AAA etc.) to get a "authority to clear Carnet" form. Which is easy enough if the Japan Auto Federation are not located 1 and a half hours train ride away! Anyway on the train I got. If it had of been Russia there might have been some exchanging of US dollars going on, but the Japanese don`t find corruption all that funny. After one and a half hours to get there, one and half waiting for the forms to be typed up and two hours back to Narita airport I was shagged. Didn`t get back until about 10pm, obviously customs were closed, but worse was I hadn`t really eaten too much in all the excitment (!) of the day and the hotel resturant was also closed. I did the only sensible thing and started searching the hotel for an infamous beer vending machine (there`s heaps of these everywhere!) and upon locating my favourite type of vending machine I noticed a food vending machine next to it selling, of all things, chicken and chips. You don`t have to be a rocket surgeon to work out that food from a vending machine isn`t going to taste that great, but given the situation it was worth a crack. I really do not want to know how it works but if you insert your $A3.40 and wait 10 minutes steaming hot chicken and chips fall out the bottom of this thing! I`ve eaten worse things....
