I shouldnt be here, but I am becuase I'm silly and my journey went wrong! whoooops! its okay though, becuase thai people are so nice, I havent felt at all unsafe or anything... okay hang on I'll start fropm the beginning.
I have now left the elephant project and I am already missing them so so so much. But the girls and I said we would all go back next year just for a week for a little reunion and stuff. and last night we had another big "all the volunteers go out together" but as my train was at 10:10 I had to take all my bags etccc and i left them in the guy called gav's room while we had dinner. Its wierd how now after two weeks when I go out I have started ordeing plain boring food, like last night I had some spag bol! but rice gets kinda sickening after a while!
So at dinner everyone was kinda talking about me, not in a bad way of anything, just sort of like as I was leaving you know? and someone said that I was a very quiet person but wehen i do talk I say really good stuff. which was quite nice! and someone else said I was the strangest person she had ever met... but i think she was joking, then she said that I weas quiet for 3 days before i started crawling out of my shell. all im all I was quite pleased with the way these people percieved me! maybe I'll work on the quietness at the dive school though. everyone was taking the piss out of my accent for most of the night aswell, which was strange! It all started the other day when buffy put her hand on my leg and I was like "do you fancy me?" and ever since everyones like "ohh do you fancy me" in a really posh british accent! and whenever I say it they all laugh like loads! I never thought my accent was wierd till now! when I cvome home I will have an accent that is like a cross between australian american german belgian thai and it will be really good!
so yeah after the meal gav walked me back to his room and called me a taxi to the station where I got on the overnight train to chumpon. My first mistake was not going 1st class! I thought second class would be okay, but there were no windows and the seats were like plastic and really uncomfortable! So yeah I sat there and sort of had a little doze, but not porperly becuase I was quite cold and didnt want my bag to be stolen! and all the thais were staring at me! Then I suddenlyrealised that all of the signs at the stations were in thai and I didnt have a clue where I was! But I knew what time I was meantr to be arriving at Chumpon so just figured I would get off at the stop at that time. So about 5 minutes before I was meant to be arriving, the train stopped so I panicked and got off! But I had got off on the wrong side of the train and in Thailand they dont have platforms, just the track and some concerete next to it, and you have to walk over the tracks to get to the other side. well I had stepped out into the middle of the track, and there was a train on either side of me then they both started going in opposite directioins! very strange experience! so then I go to the platform and look at a mapto check i am in the right place and then some guy comes over and is like "where?" and it turns out i got off a stop early and chumpon is a 2 hour taxi ride away! and theres isnt another train until 10 the next morning. then they realised there was a minibus going to chumpon hospital the next morning at 6 to take the nurses, so they said i could take that with them! but that wasnt for like 3 hours sop the guard at the station let me sleep on this thing in the corner, a bit like a bed with no mattress, but comfier than the train! then at 6 he woke me and showed me to the minibus and then we set off to chumpon and all tjhese thai people were stariung at me like "why is there this farang on here!" (a farang is a westener) so then they all got out and the driver took me to this bar where they spoke english and the lady behind the bar was really nice and booked me a ferry ticket and a taxi to the pier and let me put my bags behind the bar so I can have a wander around until the taxi which comes at 11.30. I dont really like it in this town very much, its really smoggy and dusty. lets hope koh tao is better!
So I have completed the first part of my travels! and it still feels like I have just got here. I dont think 2 weeks was long enough at the elephants, think I might bring one home!
