July 6, Edmonton to London
So it begins.
The father/daughter Europe summer trip July 2012. After months of researching all the neat places to see in Europe, then whittling them down to a reasonable number of destinations, planning daily itineraries, making plane, train, automobile, and accommodation reservations, the day is finally here for us to begin the adventure.
Our itinerary will take us to England first where we will visit London then take a train to Oxford. We will rent a car for a road trip to see Stonehenge, Bath, and Gloucester. Next, we will take a train back to London before boarding another train to go through the chunnel to Paris. After a few days in Paris we will rent another car and take a road trip through France to Le Mont Saint Michel, the D Day beaches, Rouen, Vimy Ridge and then zip up to Brugge Belgium before returning to Paris to fly to Berlin Germany. From Berlin we will fly to Krakow Poland and from there take a train to Prague Czech Republic. From Prague we will fly to Venice Italy and from there take a train to Rome. We will finish our European tour in Rome before flying home to Edmonton via Munich and Toronto.
We gathered all of our gear for our 24 days of travel and laid it out on the dining room table. We made our final checks of the packing list and got everything into our backpacks. We headed off to the airport for our 10:30pm flight to London and said our goodbyes. We got on the plane, no problems, and no delays. We are off to a good start
