Good to hear all is going well.
Disappointingly i missed the Todd River Boat race by a week - seen some photos though VIII's and IV's going down the dried up river with the bottom knocked out of their boats running together with a beer in one hand and the cox on a bike behind!
Personal Travel Advisor
Pity you missed The Old Lion. Now you are in Alice Springs you should consider entering for The Todd River Yacht Race. It's in the dried up river bed & you get a boat, knock a hole in the bottom, get in, pick it up and RUN. If it should perhaps rain whilst you're there, then you should take part in the Bangtail Cattle Muster. As it hasn't rained for ages and there are only a handful of people still alive who might know the form. So if it tips down (like here at the moment), you could sell your knowledge back again as aboost to your retirement income in 60 years time! After that bit of excitment, make your way to Tennant Creek and Katherine Gorge in particular where you can have a lovely swim in the water. There are freshwater crocs there, but they say they don't eat humans.......! Finally your route back should be via Barclay Tablelands. Its the main highway to Queensland. If you're lucky you may see one vehicle every fortnight coming the other way!
Recommendation from a colleague that you visit The Old Lion pub in Adelaide, somewhere around Jerningham / Finniss Street. It may have been pulled down by now, but it was a good place to go in the 70s / 80s !
Great Pics - Recognise The Floater as this is just like the meal Mum & I ate the night before Trafalgar at Cadiz (Nelson's authentic Pea Soup and Steak 'n Kidney Pud)! Beaches look superb. Signs should be comandeered for Farham Rugby Club as souveniers (but perhaps rugby players don't do that sort of thing any more?). I've now got three stiches in left hand where horse in next stable to ours bit me. This means I cannot play the accordian in village hall on French Evening 18 Nov! Typing is a bit ifffffffy tooooo. Luv Dad.
Great to get your letter - a real one, on real flimsy paper, with real ink - not just an e - thinggy to be evaporated at the touch of a button. Its already in Mum's bottom drawer together with the last one you wrote (from Horris Hill in June 1995)! Super pictures of Tas - I will print some now and take them to Eastbourne tomorrow to show U-know-who, who incidently is now threatening to torch her flat and become homeless so she has to live with us! There will be a number of wine buffs at your interview so at Barossa, make sure you are well versed in the difference between Red and White and, if possible between Chardonnay and Shiraz! Mum planning to go down to see The Fresher on Tuesday - now busy baking him a cake! Take care and looking forward to the next installment of Pics. Love Dad.
Well this website has become about as popular as a paedophile in a play ground! However dispite this i am still putting up pics and i shall update you with my progress....Tasmania was amazing - a close call to being my no.1 state in Aus + i was looked after extremely well by my distant relatives who showered me with sightseeing adventures and tours. I am now back in Melbourne, which has proven to be one long drinking binge - the cosmopolitan capital of australia is probably also the most expensive and with just moments to go before i slump into financial doom i have hired a car with four friends for a big road trip down the Great Ocean Road. First stop Bells Beach - and to all those who know my passion for the film Point Break, this concludes my "Point Break Sightseeing Tour!" I surfed Malibu and Venice Beach, Sky Dived over the Nevada Dessert, Drove through the Mexican Dessert and now about to surf Bells Beach - what a loser i am! Just got to watch out for that 50 year storm ripping out of Antartica! After my brief Patrick Swayze wanabe moment my destination is Adelaide and onto more sophisticated things like the Barossa Valley wine tour (can't even recall the last time i had wine! Uncouth Youth that i am!) still im sure my connoisseur's palet will not fail me...mmmm wine mmmmm.
Ross mate.....long time no hear! I remember those down under days like they were yesterday! I have a DVD for you - its got the edited footage of New Years, Fraser Island, Christmas and other stuff that you'll recognise. It's pretty awesome. When i get back we ll have to meet up for a few jugs of overpriced cats piss in a dingy underground hole and re-live the old days!!!
Take care buddy and stay in the country till i return at the end of November!
Alright mate...long time, but its good to see you're still out there. How you finding Taz? Its crazy to think it was almost a year ago we were spending every spare moment in the s***ty 'down under bar'...
...Well i've been back in blighty for too long....5 months!...got a job...not the best of jobs but its bringing the pennies in untill i'm off somehwere else..
anyhows hope you're still living the dream.....unglaublich!!
Much enjoyed the latest batch of snaps and rather you than me over that huge mound of snow! We've got Granny SS staying who is angling strongly to move from Eastbourne and take over your room in perpetuity. Otherwise usual weekend - Mum has trailered the horse to Tilford to ride, I've got to buy and fit a new downstairs lavatory cistern (the other is cracked and leaking), not a squeak from 'The Fresher' , and I'm back into playing top tennis tomorrow (another chance to play for my place during the winter?). Hope Melbourne is all its cracked up to be - dont forget Healesville & Werribee for animals and Kew Boathouse for canoeing. Do write your diary or you'll have forgotten everything on return to the depths of winter here! (I would otherwise have kept all your letters as a historical record if I'd known!). Love Dad.
A few more pics up on the site - some showing our new streamlined pies for those who know him. The girl whose computer i use has unfortunately/fortunately been fired so i can't really get to my emails for about another 3 weeks. Thats no excuse to not send me some though or contribute to this website!! Adios
Got your postcard! Many thanks
A change in the weather is on the way, a big time snow show is what they say..so pack in the beanie, scarf and hood to keep your noggin feeling good.
- Or at least that's what your Threadbo Bulletin Board is saying. Hope all's well. Mum's busy redecorating the kitchen, Wills is still on his camp in Norfolk (doing another week), and I'm busy talking to my dahlias suggesting they get into good shape to win the Crondall Flower Show this Saturday! Love from us all.
YES! another +1 in the popularity stakes - pointless s***e or no pointless s***e at least it's a message!
Lemmy told me to bombard this message box with pointless s***e, so i presume you know the little Northern Weasal.
