Liam and I were up early so decided to get some much needed washing done while Dylan slept (not naming names but now you will have some idea as to why so many late starts in the mornings). Oh and I later found out that half of our washing was left behind - cost me $67 to get it shipped back home. Breakfast was amazing, homemade waffles, omelettes, bacon, eggs, etc etc etc it just went on and on and on. A good country breakfast I reckon. We then went on a bus tour of the Amish Country which was really informative. The Amish live in communities and never venture far although in winter they are allowed to travel on public transport if given permission by the elders and often end up in Florida. They ride scooters, horse and cart or walk for transportation so they can't leave far from the community. They never ever fly. Their tractors are given steel tires for the same reason and they only use them for minimal work. It's a mixture of primitive life but then they shop at stores and are often seen out eating pizza. There are two types of Amish the original Amish and the Mennonites who have a bit more freedom. It was a very interesting tour and I'm so glad that we made the trip to see the countryside. We then did a tour of a typical Amish house, there wasn't much in the house but it was comfortable and felt homely. Once we had finished at the Amish country we went into a town called Intercourse (again yes, that's its real name) and had lunch at a gorgeous little café in a house. I had a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and we shared a piece of Shufly Pie which was just delicious. We then made the trip to Philadelphia, with another stop at Walmart on the way (because once is obviously not enough). At the Philly airport we caught the train into town and walked to our hotel. I won't be doing that again as I now have two suitcases. We rested for a bit, had a swim in the roof top pool to cool off after our walk and went out for tea at a place that was linked with Buddakan. It was called the Continental and the food was delish. We went for a walk around Philly for a bit and back to the room to bed.
