Mighty slow days sometimes. Today I arrived at Airlie Beach like 7 AM, had my diving medical booked at 8:30 and the first plan was to catch a bus at 9:05....
Didn't really feel too solid, considering the fact that I have no idea how long a medical would take. So 35 min to get checked up and to the bus felt a bit optimistic, so I actually changed my bus to a later one, meaning I'd get a full day in airlie. The downside: I arrive in Townsville about 1 hour after the last ferry has left... A considerable drawback and I have a lose-lose situation, but if the choice is between spending 5 hours in the middle of the night outdoors and risking missing my entire dive course, I know which lose I'd rather choose.
So one day in airlie can't be that bad, right? Wrong, it was pissing rain the entire day here... Haven't done anything worthwhile for the entire day, and probably wont either.
The kicker in it all: the exam took barely 20 min alltogether, meaning I would've had plenty of time to catch the bus and write this message from my room on magnetic island, instead of the lobby at Base Airlie Beach. But I think I made the right call anyways, would not be too happy if the exam would've streached on for 40 min, plus I'd be sittning on f***ing needles throughout the exam.
However, this version involves me barely getting any sleep at all, the night before I'm supposed to spend a full day in a classroom... And I have a nasty habit of falling asleep when I'm tired, especially if I sit still.
So I'm going to invent the most caffein-packed-s***-kicking-hard-punching cocktail the world has ever know! I got roughly 14 hours, I'll make miracles. Plus I've got some sleep during the day...
Wish me luck and say your prayers when my heart starts hammering like a woodpecker.
Don't throw birds at people living in glasshouses, or something...
