Alright, so the plan to see the sun rise over El Cristo Redentor didn't quite work, getting out of bed that early isn't as easy as it sounds.
For the record though, it was a good idea since pretty soon (read: just when I was there), the place is packed with people and it would have been a lot more enjoyable being a bit more secluded up on the top of Corcovado. The statue itself is still quite cool though, 30 meters high, placed so as to just watch the entire town, made if concrete covered in soap stone.
But the overall experience is somewhat lessened by the thousands of other tourists, stubbornly trying the get their own picture taken with arms outstretched in front of the statue, never-mind the hordes of visitors just attempting to pass through.
So if rio, definitely go there, but take the earliest train possible.
The rest of the day was mostly spent working out and preparing my stuff for the flight to LA, via Lima and El Salvador.
Balls to the walls.
