So here I am in Ometepe, the largest fresh water island in the world. We are staying in a remote part of the island, in a beautiful location overlooking the huge fresh water lake (which look like the sea as it is so vast). We have a beautiful view from our cabin overlooking the lake. Its a perfect location to kick back and relax in the hammock reading a good book, taking in the great scenary and enjoying the warm weather. Although the clouds of mosquitos dampen the atmosphere some, so ive taken it upon myself to rid the world of mosquitos and kill as many as possible. Im like the Japanese guy off karate kid, killing the mosquitos with my chop sticks, aided by my super fast ninja speed-HI, YARR!!!
I soon got bored of my war against mosquitos (the mosquitos were winning as they far out numbered me) I decided to see what Ometepe had to offer and arranged to go horse riding to discover its vast, dense, tropical countryside on the slowest horse in history. So enjoyed a nice day on old plodder.
The next day I was feeling energised so decided to brave it and go on a 4km hike to Cascada de San Ramon, a beautiful waterful set high in Volcano Maderas. It was a long, hard, almost vertical hike but it was worth it as it was a beautiful waterfall, and its inspired me to get fit and start preparing for the inca trail as im sooo unfit, so no more chocolale cake for me, well, not after tonight, il start tomorrow......
So onto San Jose where my Central American tour ends. Its going to be strange saying goodbye to the group as some of us have been travelling together for over a month. Its going to be weird going from a group enviroment where everything is planned out and organised for me to being independant again and having to plan my own destinations. But im really looking forward to it as I going to be able to go where I want, when I want and do what ever I want. So look out Costa Rica cause here I come.....
