Vietnam so far...
Hue, Vietnam
Hi Everyone...we have been in Vietnam for a while now and it's definately different! Everything is super cheap and we have moved alot already..We arrived in Hanoi, the capital and stayed there for a while with Marc and Gina (friends we made at the airport) and then went with them to Halong Bay on an over night boat trip, which was awesome!! We went Kayaking at sunset, went in some caves, had dinner on the boat, then we jumped off the back of the boat and swam in the dark!!! eeek...in some not so clean waters!
After dinner we alll did some squiding...what we decided fishing for squid as called :) the only person to catch anything was a guy who worked on the boat, but it was still fun!
Since there we have been to Nimh Binh, we hired bikes and cycled to another little boat trip, which was beautiful if a little spolit by people constantly asking for money or hounding you to buy their stuff! :( (only bad thing tho) then we cycled to a Poganda...which is nothing more to see than an old shrine to Budda...with a million steps!! Then after we went to a little town, where all the kids come out as you cycle past and give you little high-fives (ive only just re-mastered cycling, im not yet ready to high-five while on a bike hehe) we visited a mountian and walked the 500 steps to the top! it was exhausting but wicked views..then walked allllll the way back down again! and cycled the 7k home.
Yesterday we went to a national park, with a taxi driver who looked like the mafia! There were a million steps (without looking it, this place is mega hilly!! haha) and not much else! Glenn and Marc went right inside the cave there, Gina did a bit and waited outside for me, cos I wouldn't do any, head torch or not head torch, it was friggin dark!! Then after the driver had his 9th beer he drove us home! the roads are shocking here..shocking!
Then we visited Hue, nothing much to see or do so we moved on to Hoi An, Marc got a suit made..looked pretty good! Hoi An was amazing, so french, little lanes of shops and patissaries :) so cute.
From there we moved down to Nha Trang, which was quite western, there were alot of Russians over there, but not complaining, it turns out they make pretty good pancakes :) hhehe a little bit too touristy and like a european holiday so we moved on after only a day or two! (we also got told it was going to rain for 5days so didnt fancy sticking around to see that)
Then was Mui Ne, theres nothing else to say but beauitful, this is where we went to the sand dunes at sunrise, it was awesome, and for only $6 :) its just so relaxed and beautiful :)
Ho Chi Min City was our last stop, it was big and busy, as all citys are but it was alot more western than Hanoi and felt a little less Vietnamese!!nice tho.
After an adventureous trip on the Mekong Delta we entred Cambodia!!! more piccies to follow :)
missing everyone loads looooove and hugs L & G xxxxxxxxx
