I arrived at KL International Airport early and after checking in our luggages, we had out breakfast at the Plaza Premium Lounge while waiting for our flight.
We boarded Qatar Airways and took off by 10am, beginning our journey to Turkey!
We arrived at at the Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar 7.5 hours later (11.30am local time) and I did my solah in the prayer room while waiting for our connecting flight from DOH-SAW.
Then we resumed another 4.5 hours journey to Sabiha Gocken (SAW) airport in the Asian side of Istanbul, witnessing the beautiful sunset as we were approaching Istanbul.
We took a cab to the mall nearby, Viaport Mall (TL15) to look for SIM cards and to exchange our € and $s to Turkish Liras. After that, we took the cab again to our Airbnb host's house at Yenisehir, not too far from SAW airport (TL10).
We were greeted by Nadir's lovely wife Belma who welcomed us in to their lovely home. The young couple, married for two years or so, have hosted about 17 groups of travelers before and they have only started doing so in summer!
We chilled with Nadir at their living room as we watched TV and while Belma prepared dinner for us. She served us her mom's tomato soup winter recipe and manti (a type of Turkish dumplings) served with a variety of pickled vegetables.
They were very friendly, but it is unfortunate that we were not chatty ourselves, so there were awkward silences in between hahaha, but it's all good. He is a chemical engineer while she is an accountant.
Their guest room was a little small so Belma was kind enough to offer the other room to Mas, so in the end the both of us got our own space and privacy in their house. Their bathroom was very well stocked with towels, toiletries and at least 8 different shampoo brands!
We called it a night and went to sleep around 9:30pm, but it was already 3:30am in Malaysia!
