Where can I start, other than WOW! This morning, after a lovely breakfast we caught the 10am gondola to the base summit of Whistler. Look at the photos, they are amazing. The store was found, once inside I instantly saw a toboggan, it had to be a photo opportunity. It was one from the Olympics last year. A nice young man serving in the shop was found to do the honours and we were snapped! A grizzly bear photo (obviously not a real one) and purchase of new coat later and we were out! We then found out we could go to the summit by an open cable car. Kate looked like she was going to be sick, but on we got anyway... It totally blew me away. We walked on snow that even now is two feet thick, the view from the top was breathtaking and the air was clean and fresh! More photos later and back down for the next highlight.... The peak to peak alpine experience. At 4.4km long and 436m above the valley floor, the world breaking peak to peak gondola joins Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. It is the longest continuous lift system in the world, unbelievable! Kate clung to the seat, I was backward and forwards like a yo yo snapping away! Once in the open valley, the wind was jostling our gondola around. The final photos at Blackcomb and a descent on another open top gondola. The peace and serenity was lovely on the trip back down, so quiet until a scream further down in another gondola came and we realised a black bear was sitting in the open waiting for his photo to be taken... We obliged! we are back in Whistler now for a coffee before the train back to Vancouver. So much to tell and it's only 2.15!
Will be back in touch later when we hit Vancouver and all it's glory. Ciao for now x
