The greyhound bus over to Vegas was the scariest part of my trip so far. Our bus left hollywood station at ten to ten and the station shut at 9 however we had to go before the shut and get our bags wieghed to go under the bus. So from 9 until when our bus turned up we had to sit outside with our bags. I was a little bit scared of the people that were getting the bus with us then I got even more freaked out when loads of homeless poeple turned up and started setting up camp there for the night. I guess the station must be a pretty good place to sleep. It got me thinking that if we got rid of the benefits system in the UK we would probably end of with homeless people and beggers everywhere like here and I kind of decided I would rather pay more tax and not have people hassling me everywhere.
We survived the bus journey though and I even managed to sleep which was lucky as our bus got into Vegas at 4 in the morning but we couldnt check into our hotel at vegas until 3 in the afternoon. We walked a lot that day and took in every hotel on the strip. It was quite good arriving at that time in the morning as everywhere was lit up and it looked amazing. We paid 5 dollars for a bus pass to take us up and down the strip so that saved our feet a bit. Everything in Vegas looks decievingly close together so you think its not going to be that far to walk to where you want to go. Then an hour later you finally arrive there. I think its cause all the hotels are so big so two hotels up the strip really is a long way. After walking about and looking at everthing we decided we couldnt take any more and managed to convince a guy at the hotel to check us in half an hour early. The hotel was nice but a bit dated. We had a corner bath in the bathroom so I think that shows how long its been since it was decorated. After checking in we went and sat at the hotel pool and relaxed then had a couple of hours kip. Feeling a bit more refreshed we went out for dinner at the rainforest cafe in the MGM and saw the lions in there. We wouldnt to go out and experience the night life of vegas but were too tired so we got on the bus back to the hotel. I could hardly keep my eyes open and fell into bed as soon as we got back. Feeling much better the next day we were able to do some more sightseeing and swimming in the pool. We saw the Fountain display at the Bellagio and when and watched the show outside Treasure Island. We had met an American guy earlier on in the day at the hotel who was in Vegas with his family so he came out with us that night. He knew Vegas better than us as he had been a few days before so knew where to go at night. It did take us a while to find somewhere though, the first place we went to wouldnt take out English driving licenses as ID and wanted to see our passports which we didnt have with us, then the next place wanted $30 just to get in which I refused to pay. (I have to keep an eye on my Budget) We did eventually find somewhere nice though. It was interesting talking to the American guy Paul as he was answering all our questions about what living in America was really like. We probably bored the hell out of him.
The next morning it was up early again to catch the geyhound back to LA. It was a lot less scary getting the bus in the day and I still managed to get some sleep in so the journey didnt seem that long. I came back to the hollywood hostel for the night and Heidi went onto the airport to get her flight home.
Tonight I fly out to Fiji and I cant wait. I'm hoping it will be a bit more relaxing than LA and Vegas. I was just talking to a girl that has just come from there and she said its amazing. I'll keep you posted on what its like.
