Lynds' Travels
Happy Halloween....
I have been in Koh Phi Phi for 3 days now and I am really liking it here. I'm going to stay another three or four days before going to Koh Lanta, then Malaysia.
Yesterday I did a boat trip which was absolutely awesome. We snorkelled over coral reef to get to a small bay called Sam Haad, where we fed wild monkeys pineapple by hand. The sea is really clear and you can see so many different types of fish. One type of fish tries to scare you off by swimming directly for your mask, which is amusing considereing we are about 300 times their size!
The boat then took us round to Phi Phi Lay where there are caves called the Viking Caves, which is odd as the pictures on the walls are apparently only 50 years old - maybe our guide's English wasn't quite up to scratch!! Further round Phi Phi Lay we stopped at the bay where The Beach was filmed, which was extremely pretty and practically untouched.
On the way back to the bay we saw the sunsetting behind the clouds.
Today the weather is not so good (Sarah and Emma stop sniggering!). I was going to volunteer to help with the beach clean up, but because of the rain it has been cancelled. The island is still really effected by the Tsunami. There is a lot of building work going on, where businesses are trying to get back up and running and there is not yet a postoffice on the island, so I cannot send any postcards. From the bay that the boats bring you into pre Tsunami you couldn't see the beach on the otherside of the curved bays because of the trees and buildings, now however it is a clear view from one side to the other. It is really sad how badly it was damaged. In some places the floors are still littered with debris too, hence the volunteer work. Since the Tsunami they have set up evacuation points around the island. I am staying in one of them, as there are many steps to get up to my dorm.
Yes I am staying in a 16 bedroom dorm. This is quite wierd having not experienced this post Brownies, but it is very cheap and enables me to meet lots of people. Loads of us are getting dressed up tonight and going to a Halloween Part on the beach which should be fun....think I might go as a cat!!!
Anyway will update soon. Keep writing y'all.

It is still a beautiful place though.
