Hi,
Well, I went to the night market, as I mentioned in my last postcard, but it was just one street selling food. It was good to see though and was really cheap. I wasn't really sure what anything was and the language barrier was a little problematic, so a lady just kept putting food in my hand to let me try it until I found something I liked. My dinner - a rice dish and a noodle dish - cost me a grand total of 2Ringet, about 35p. And I bought some melon for my breakfast the next day.
Other than this exciting night out I have pretty much been laying on the beach still, drinking and eating. We found this really nice restaurant, which is a little walk from us called the Oasis; it's on the next beach along in fact. It serves loads of food including about 15different set Indian meals. The vegetable Thali consists of rice/nan/chappatti, veg curry, daal, raita, papadoms and salad and costs 1 pound 40p. Not bad at all.
Although my room is a little more expensive than normal I seem to be saving it on the food. It's soo cheap, as demonstrated above, but also I only have 2 meals a day (I get up too late for breaky). If I was doing exercise I'd be svelte like by now!
My last night in Langkawi (for 2 days that is, but my last night with Kate and Damien too) was spent on the beach drinking and playing games.....yes there are others who like to play games! Then I had an awful finish to the evening, when we heard a cat get run over and saw the aftermath. It was awful and we didn't know what to do; whether to try to move it out of the road, or whether that would be risky for us with regards to the blood. Luckily a guy from a nearby bar said he would sort it out, so we left before we saw anything worse. Also we didn't know if it was a cat that belonged to Hiroko (unfortunately it was and I had to break the news to her the next day.), as she has many cats that she feeds at the guesthouse and it happened outside. It put a right downer on the night. I said my goodbyes, then went back to my chalet and burst out crying!
Happier postcards next time....
