Hello to all,
Well I am loving the little Japanese lady that runs the guesthouse I am staying in. Last night, just before I was going to bed, I couldn't work my air/con (I have aircon, only because I couldn't be bothered to walk any further with my backpack on my back yesterday, looking for a cheaper place to stay!), so I went to see the lady to see if she could show me. She did, then proceeded to tell me how important it was that I lock the door properly at night, because I was on my own. When I showed her that the bolt didn't work, only the key did, she went outside and brought me back a table to prop up against the door, after she had gone. "You wanna bat?'' she asked, but I said I thought I would be ok with the table. She wasn't sure, so she said that if anyone should try to break in I should scream and she would bring her bat and attack the intruder! She's already given me a discount on my room too....I think she feels sorry for me!
The weather was really good early on today, so I spent part of the morning on the beach, before having brunch, where I ran into Kate and Damien (the couple I travelled here with) and three other lads, that they had met in Phi Phi....isn't it a small world! The weather turned nasty early afternoon, so I walked down the road to an aquarium, that was actually very impressive, even more so than the London Aquarium I would say! It was more like a zoo really, as it also housed flamingoes, swans and penguins!
Tomorrow I am hiring a car with Kate and Damien and we are going to explore the island. There is a huge network of cable cars at the North of the island, that take you right to the top of the mountains, where you can apparently get an awesome view of the whole island, so hopefully the weather will be good, so we can do that.
We were thinking about visitng the crocodile farm too, until someone told us it wasn't a sanctuary type place as expected, rather than a 'choose your crocodile to eat' and buy crocodile skin items kinda place!
Anyway I'm off to get ready for the Reggae Bar, (I don't think I have been anywhere that doesn't have one so far!) though I still can't drink...only 2 days left of antibiotics yippee! My legs are much better by the way, thanks for all the concerns!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SISTER, JANINE, AND TO NATALIE.
Loads of Love
