Lynda and Fred Travels
Well another wet and cold day...we are all nervous about if our ship can get to amsterdam...before this rain the rivers are so high there is only a few inches from top deck to bridges....they are closing top deck for 5 days....all chairs, bikes, etc are removed to give room to go under bridges....so you can see we can't afford rivers to rise any more! So breakfast and back on board the buses by 830 am. Today was windy and wet but not as bad as yesterday.... We first went to the Schonbrunn Palace the most beautiful and famous palace in Vienna and one of the best known in Europe. Having been the summer palace of the Habsburgs who ruled much of Europe for over 600 years, it's rooms reflect the style and taste of each Habsburg sovereign who inhabited the palace over the centuries....it was stunning...beautiful paintings on ceilings, chandeliers to die for all with candle lights as in old days...saw bedrooms and 22 special rooms....Maria Theresa had most influence in decorating. Very spectacular! Lots of Chinese art influence as well.... The gardens of the palace are wonderful....lots of roses.... Then we went through the carriage museum where we saw all the old carriages used by the rulers...quite lovely.... Then we went to city, had lunch and a walk around and finally back to boat....spent the time with lovely lady from Canberra - jan. Rain has flooded cities again but seems to have eased this afternoon! We had dinner at the exclusive Erlebnis restaurant which holds 22 people and you are only allowed to book twice on the cruise. It was first class service...a five course dinner which was excellent! Never fit int my clothes soon!

Irene & Trevor Don't worry about clothes fitting - enjoy all that delicious food & you'll walk off the excess weight anyway. Love Irene & Trevor
