Lynda and Fred Travels
Well we got up at 4:30 am to drive to a spot to view sunrise over the canyon....on our way they were cougar signs on road and were scared to get out of car...we ended up at Grandview Point on Desert View Drive....lovely spot....had banana, apple cranberry juice (Fred's favourite) and a banana muffin while watching the sun come up! We then drove to Lipan Point and enjoyed the view from there...then on to Desert View where there was a Watchtower to climb and see the view, a grocery store (very rare here) and a cafe...of course gift shops as well! We were so glad to leave Europe and be in English speaking country...but Canada even Calabogie was full of French...and here English is the minority....on our helicopter there was 2 English speaking (us), two French and two Italian....they played the English narration last! We really enjoyed the visit....then on way home stopped at all the spots we missed on the way there....Moran Point, Navajo Point, etc....great views...so different from every aspect....as the light changes so does the view!!! We visited the main tourist information centre, watched a video about the canyon then had lunch and home for a rest....
