After being able to sleep in my body decided against it and chose to wake up at 5:30 instead! Went for a stroll before my class was meant to start at 9, ended up doing the video earlier- sent me to sleep- was so much common sense stuff and because I'd done two discovery dives before I was familiar with the basics already.. Had to do a couple of quizzes then had a couple of hours to kill so strolled down the other side of the 'intersection' where the ferry arrives, and think I almost made it to the beach at the point (all of the main area is situated around a bay) but not quite. Came back and got my gear for the first 'confined water' dive- off the deck at the dive place, right next to where our accommodation is and the bar. Met the two guys in my group and we entered the water. Did all kinds of exercises in the 3m-ish deep water. Some easier than others! Finished after a few hours and I was feeling pretty exhausted- the intense travelling has definitely caught up with me! Was in bed very early- was invited to party but was an anti social butterfly instead!
Again woke up early but less so this time- my body clock is definitely out of whack! Went for a walk and finally took my washing in and got some water that I went to do last night but forgot to bring the washing and went to the shop and forgot the water! Lay around in bed for a while once I got back- but had no idea and attempted to work out the best way to get to Nicaragua! Am clueless- I want to avoid spending any time in any large cities but looks like that is unavoidable!
Began the theory aspect of day 2 open water course at 10, with two sections to complete. Was quite un- enthralling and I had trouble concentrating- has been a while since I've been in a classroom situation! I was brain dead trying to do calculations! Managed to get through it and we had a bit of a break for lunch- went to try these infamous baleadas, was worth the $2! Is a tortilla/homemade wrap thing which has whichever meat, refried bean spread, cabbage, tomato and some kind of salty crumbly cheese. It's very good! The guys took awhile to eat their Chinese food so we ended up getting back after 1 with only 10 minutes to set up until the boat left! They weren't that impressed with us but managed to get our gear together and on the boat in time. The first spot we went to was called the maze and the second was black coral wall. They were both great- nothing too spectacular or unusual but saw different fish, sea cucumbers and cool corals. The second dive was better because we swam through crevasse like things. Had to repeat some of our activities from yesterday like practicing clearing your mask, helping your buddy and using alternate air sources. Simon actually did run out of air so was quite a good thing we had practiced it the day before! But Carlos (the instructor) warned him to never let it get below 500 spi and his was on 0! They both used their air so much quicker than I did- I think sometimes I forget to breathe!
Came back to the dive centre and did some back flips off the dock and stuff which was fun- I'm going to improve! But I'm not as scared as I used to be. I think it's since I bungeed! Was such a nice evening, great sunset again, but the bay calmed off even more than the previous night.
Went and got some food and stuff then chilled out on the deck. Caught up with Simon and Richard who were just heading out for dinner- so I joined and ate another baleada and had some beans, rice and banana stuff.. Was feeling pretty full after three courses followed by ice-cream for dessert! Had a beer at a bar with them but it was pretty quiet after everyones massive night the night before!
