HIGHLIGHTS:

The awesomely bright colours of the buildings throughout the countries. My future designs might just be inspired by the region!
Driving a golf cart around isla mujeres with Tatjana, Linda and Janneke.
Ice cold coronas for only $2 each.
Hammocks at hostels.
Seeing Kate, Belinda and Britt in Tulum. Some familiar faces are great sometimes!
Guessing the combination of my lock that had caused me great inconvenience since I left Australia!
Food- always satisfies me!! But other than the Mexican food I was greatly impressed with the other regions! Expected it to be very bland and only consist of 'gallo pinto' aka beans and rice.
Super cheap alcohol! $3 for a bottle of imported vodka in Nicaragua. OMG I didn't even buy any!
The crabs at playa maderas reminded me of Christmas Island.
Amazing snorkelling in Caye Caulker in Belize - stingrays, colourful fish, turtles, manatees, moray eels, nurse sharks..
Baleadas on Utila in Honduras- delicious and cheap wrap things!
Surfing on day one in playa maderas- I got smashed but also rode the biggest waves of my non existent career!
Finding the photos I thought I'd lost from guatemala and belize!
Getting my PADI open water dive certificate in Honduras for a lot cheaper and better than at home - meaning I can dive anywhere in the world (to 18m)

LOWLIGHTS:

Every big city in the region. Cancun was safe enough but Belize City, Guatemala City, San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa, Managua and San Jose on the other hand were pretty scary places!!!
Someone flogging my bank card and spending $500 on it.
The ridiculously freezing air con Vs absolutely sweltering no air con on buses! No normal temperature!
Needing more time for this amazing region!
American tourists in cancun and costa rica.
Everything costing more than the latest version of lonely planet says.
Getting ripped off because I'm alone and don't speak Spanish.
Mosquitoes.
Harmless but annoying comments, hissing, whistling, etc. The surprising thing was the worst place was Granada - a small colonial city! Being stared at for being so blonde was also inconvenient.
Parts of honduras were the worst I've ever seen even compared to Asia for rubbish!!! I saw a river that was 100% entirely flowing bottles and rubbish. People just threw bottles out of the bus window. Disgraceful attitudes.
Getting caught out without correct currencies at border crossings.

All in all- a wonderful colourful region to explore that I will DEFINITELY be returning to in the not-too-distant future!!! I will definitely be working on the Spanish and probably bringing a friend along to see what I didn't have time for this trip!!!!!
